In the last 10 years of photographing weddings (holy smokes, has it been that long??? I totally missed that milestone, lol!), I have photographed weddings of so many talented people. One awesome group of talented people that I LOVE to photograph, especially their weddings, are those in the wedding industry! Today’s vendor spotlight showcases the business of one of my October brides, Shannon. When Shannon & I first met, we were amused by the fact that we both had the same last maiden name. Turns out we aren’t related that we know of, but how many “Spiker’s” are there around here? Not many, so who knows
So, when Shannon & Angelo started telling me about their wedding, I was floored. This couple has SO much style, and I knew that this wedding was going to be one for the books (or wedding blogs, lol). Then Shannon mentioned that she was making her own cake for the wedding… Um, are you kidding? Honestly, I thought she was in over her head (sorry, Shannon, but I’ve seen disastrous outcomes when people try to handle certain aspects of the wedding themselves so close to the wedding day). However, this girl totally rocked it… and I am still in awe.
Shannon owns Frosted Fantasies in Martinsburg, WV. She does custom cake designs, and also teaches classes on the subject. These cakes not only look fabulous, but they taste phenomenal! Jon & I usually do not partake in wedding cakes while we’re shooting, but I knew I was doing a vendor spotlight, so we had to have a sample to truly be able to speak to the quality of her work. I’m not a food reviewer, so I’ll leave it at one phrase: “Holy smokes, Batman… this is the bomb diggity!” (Go ahead, laugh at my dorkiness…)
