Free to Succeed Tour in DC

Last week I had the awesome privilege of attending the Free to Succeed tour in DC! I’ve been so excited to attend this seminar since the day I signed up (which was also the day it was announced) :) The two speakers just happened to be two of my all-time favorite photographers, David Jay and Becker. These guys have been dubbed “rockstars” of the wedding industry, and just to hear them speak is very inspiring. Becker actually shot my headshot in Vegas earlier this year while we were there for WPPI, along with countless other eager photographers dying for a chance to see how he works. I am so grateful to him, as well as DJ, for all the information that they so openly share with everyone. They are both truly so inpiring, not only as photographers, but also as human beings. I can’t thank them enough for the knowledge that they have shared that has truly catapulted my business in the past couple years. I am so anxious for the next WPPI in Vegas coming up in February to see them again!

this pic actually made it up on Becker’s blog for photographers :)

Thanks to Kenny Kim, for grabbing this shot of a few of us goofing off

David & Jacki ~ Hot Kisses

Let me explain the blog title. Every engagement session I do is different. Even if it’s in the same exact setting as one before. Not only are the sessions different, but each couple invokes different feelings and thoughts in my crazy brain, and so I think I may start to share tiny bits of those thoughts here. We’ll see how it goes as time goes on.

I went to Harper’s Ferry, WV to photograph David & Jacki, and I couldn’t have asked for a better time. The first thing I think of when I think of them now is “hot kisses”. I love making my couples kiss, and it’s always so cute, but every now and then there comes a couple who just radiates heat when they kiss. David & Jacki are one of those couples. I don’t know if their friends have noticed, maybe it’s just me, but I LOVED it! I know, I’m such a romantic…

I’m posting quite a few black & white/sepia images tonight. The proofing site I use allows my clients to order any image in black & white or sepia, but these two just look FABULOUS in black & white, so I had to show them off :)

Baby Hailie

Check out this super adorable baby girl I had the pleasure of photographing! She is such a ham for the camera, I could work with her all day long :)

Foxy Roxy

It’s official, I’m a married woman!!! Yahoo!!!

This is my first night back to work, and since I’m a tad behind on my blogging, I’ll post a recent session up before I tell you how crazy I am about my wedding photographers. Although it’s quite hard to keep it in :) Okay, shush up, Lori, and get on with it!

A friend of mine recently got a brand new Siberian Husky puppy! Even though she’s rescued several huskies in the past, and she currently is lucky enough to live with 5 other dogs, she had a hard time finding just the right puppy. I won’t go into how much I am in LOVE with huskies, but one of my old husky pups came from a great, loving kennel in Pennsylvania, and so I gave her the info, and VOILA… here comes Roxy!!! As her mama puts it, Roxy is a pistol, and we sure had a crazy time chasing her around one afternoon trying to get some great portraits to document her first few weeks at her new home. But, we ended up with some super-cute images!

Like all kids do, she had to go and get dirty right in the middle of our session… but still SO cute!

Pretty soon, she was all pooped out, and just wanted mommy to take her home for a nice long nap :)

The next few days I will be catching up on all the emails & messages I’ve received while I was away “gettin’ hitched” :) Please be patient, and I’ll be talking to you soon!

Donnie & Christian ~ Shenandoah Valley Golf Club

When it rains, it pours, that’s what they say… and this year has been crazy for rainy day weddings. Of course, they also say that it’s a blessing to have it rain on your wedding day, so that’s good news! Luckily, Donnie & Christian were married inside at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, VA, and their reception was at the always-elegant Shenandoah Valley Golf Club. You may remember them from their engagement session that I did last fall. I’m so glad that Christian hired me to do a bridal portrait a few months ago at the golf club, because we got some terrific shots of her in her beautiful wedding gown in some yummy sunlight. This also gave her a chance to try out the hairstyle that she wanted, which she ended up not wanting for the wedding day after all… still gorgeous, just not exactly what she wanted.

Let’s start with the bridal portraits, there’s quite a few…

Check out those awesome clouds!

This is just plain cute :)

Anticipation of the big day!

She had one of these enlarged to display at the front entrance to the reception. I’ve also had brides order large canvases of their portraits to display, and the parents usually keep the portrait to hang on their wall.

This cake was just TOO perfect!

This is plain cute #2 ;)

The best of luck to the both of you!!!
