Jennifer’s Bridal Session ~ Historic Jordan Springs

I’ll say it again & again: A bridal portrait is so worth the small amount of time and effort you put in! Not only do you get a dress rehearsal, but you get a hair & make-up rehearsal to try out your entire wedding day look.  Plus, you get to really know how your dress is going to wear the day of the wedding… I can’t even begin to count how many times I see brides fiddling with their dress after wearing it for an hour or so. These types of things can be fixed by a seamstress if you know they will happen. Spending an hour or so in front of the camera will definitely identify these issues, so you can get these fixed BEFORE the wedding day!

You may remember Jennifer from the engagement session I did for her & Geoff. Jennifer is so beautiful and utterly sweet… I’m so proud to have her as a friend! I thought she looked absolutely perfect for her bridal session, but she ended up not being completely happy with her hair and make-up. Since she had plenty of time before the wedding to look over the pictures, she was able to let her stylist and make-up artist know of the changes, so that her wedding day look was flawless (and trust me, it was indeed… you’ll see those later!).

We were able to use the grounds of Historic Jordan Springs, which was the site of her wedding ceremony and reception. The grounds are so pretty, and can make for some pretty dramatic images.

Vendor Spotlight ~ Wedding Window

It’s been a while since I did a vendor spotlight, so I’m excited to finally get the ball rolling again!  This time I’m showcasing a GREAT wedding site that allows you to create a beautiful, well-designed personal wedding website.  I love looking at my clients’ wedding webpages, and I always thought I would build my own site, utilizing all the skills I learned in my web design classes.  But, the first time I saw a Wedding Window site, I knew that I would be using their service instead (shhh… don’t tell my instructors!).  They have so many different templates to choose from, which are as customizable as anyone would ever need.  You can add as many different pages as you’d like, and it is SOOOO easy to create! If you have a facebook or myspace page, then building your wedding site on Wedding Window is going to be a breeze (even if you don’t have one, they have made it totally simple for even computer newbies to follow the steps to complete your site).

For our site, I wanted to use a domain name that would be easier for our guests to remember, so I set up www.jon-n-lori.com to redirect to the Wedding Window site.  We had so many comments from our family & friends that it was such a nice touch to our event.  Go check it out at Jon-N-Lori.com!

Stay tuned for some beautiful bridal & wedding images!

Brand Spankin’ New!!!

Hi everyone! So, I know that I’ve been teasing you with an exciting change the last several weeks, and I’m sorry I kept delaying the launch date, but I wanted to wait until it was absolutely perfect before I showed you! Alright, so without further ado, let me introduce you to our new name, our new brand and our new website! We are now officially, Swadley Studio!!!!

I was a bit hesitant about changing the name for a few reasons…. First, I love my maiden name, and I really thought that I would always keep it for my business, but I’ve realized that since Jon has become such an integral part of all this over the past couple years, it would make more sense and confuse less future clients if I used my new name. Second, I’ve built such a strong client base that knows me as Lori Spiker, and I was somewhat scared to “start all over again” with a new name. But, I’ve kept my old site (lorispiker.com) active, and automatically redirecting to the new site, which is www.swadleystudio.com! All messages sent to my old email address will automatically be forwarded to my new address, and all other contact info is still the same… so no worries about not being able to find me in the future J

So, let’s check out that logo! How sweet is that?!?

I knew I wanted Erica, from Cabana Blue Creative to do it. Not only is she one of my best friends, but she produces some of the best marketing material around … and she loves doing logos. I gave her a rundown of what I wanted… natural, organic, fun, and it had to include a passionflower somewhere. Also, I wanted to use our wedding colors, which was my favorite color, purple, and Jon’s favorite color, blue. You should have seen the logos she came up with… it was next to impossible to pick just one of them! If your business needs some updated marketing materials, or a whole new makeover, she’s definitely the one to call. Check her out at www.cabanablue.com.

One really exciting thing that we’re incorporating into our new brand, which is something that is so important to me in my personal life, is going GREEN. There’s no denying that eventually everyone will be green, so why not start now? And, while we aren’t completely there yet, we have taken some large steps to take a little more responsibility for the Earth that God gave us. And, we won’t stop there… we’ll constantly be reviewing our processes to look for more ways to go GREEN! More details on this to come.

Another thing that’s changing is I have finally decided to upgrade our services to only the highest quality products. Nothing but the best from here on out! Since your wedding album is your first family heirloom, it needs to last for generations to come. Your kids will thank us for this, and so will you! If you are a past client that happened to purchase a lower end album from me in the past … you know who you are… and you’re ready to upgrade to something more substantial, I will totally hook you up with a great deal! I actually started this a few months ago, but didn’t have the time to announce it here on the blog. I didn’t have time for lots of things last year, mostly in my personal life. So that brings me to our next change… We’ll now only be accepting 20 weddings per year… yep, just 20 weddings per year. Not only will this give me more time with my new husband, and our families, but it will also give our clients more of our time, which is so important. I love checking in with my brides from time to time, and this will allow me to do more of that. Initial turnaround time will be much faster, thank you cards can be ordered sooner, and album designing will be a breeze!!!

Well, I hope you like our new look!  Be sure to let us know what you think!
