(10-day Blogathon #10! I MADE IT!!! )
I’ve been waiting to post this one for a while! You saw their engagement session a few days ago, and now you get to see their beautiful wedding day! Nothing could have been more perfect about the day… it was just gorgeous… and so was Staci! She & her bridesmaids got ready at Gary’s step-mother’s beautiful home not too far from the Fauquier Springs Country Club. We had a wonderful session before the wedding that produced some knock-out images for their wedding album.
(WARNING: long rant coming up, but a big lesson to be learned for future brides & grooms!) There was one big disappointment when I arrived at the ceremony site, though. I always tell my brides to talk with the minister to make sure there are no photography restrictions. Some ministers have rules that we must follow, some being more strict than others. Staci thought there wouldn’t be any restrictions due to the ceremony being outside, and the minister was a close friend of the family. But…. when I arrived at the ceremony site and introduced myself to the minister, the first thing that came out of his mouth was “There are no pictures to be taken during the ceremony. This is a sacred event, and pictures will take that away”. Yikes! I’ve only had 2 other ministers in my entire 8 year career that had this rule. I tried to get him to budge, and told him that if the guests don’t see me taking pictures they will start taking pictures with their camera phones & personal cameras that will flash him (this is the main concern of ministers, as guests don’t understand that the minister can’t read the ceremony if he is blinded by their flash!). But, he woldn’t budge, and so we were forced to recreate the entire ceremony over again after the inital ceremony. Fortunately, Staci had made sure there was plenty of time after the ceremony for pictures of the two of them, so we just used that time to recreate the ceremony. We still had a few minutes left to get a few shots of them, but not nearly as many as I had hoped. The biggest bummer, though, had to be the fact that I couldn’t capture all those special moments during the very emotional ceremony. At one point Staci gave Gary’s daughter a ring as well, which was so touching that I heard lots of sniffles in the crowd. I would have loved to capture some shots of the emotions taking place at that moment. In Gary & Staci’s case, they couldn’t have changed things even if they knew ahead of time since this was a good friend of the family, and they knew that they were definitely going to use him. But, maybe in someone else’s case out there who aren’t set on a minister yet, this will remind you to ask anyone you are considering if they have any restrictions
Okay, back to the wedding awesome-ness!!! Here’s one to get you started, and a slideshow to top it off… enjoy!!!

A HUGE THANKS TO MANDA!!! Staci’s big sister & Maid of Honor, she is the coolest chic I know! She’s got much love for great music, loves to travel & is a glass extraordinaire (check out her website or the Etsy shop!). Oh yeah, & it didn’t hurt that she gave us the BEST tip I EVER received: tickets to a reunion concert of my favorite band, The Dead! They did a Rock for Change show in PA, and we all had a TREMENDOUS time! Here’s a shot of us at the wedding to end my 10-day Blogathon… I hope everyone enjoyed watching as much as I enjoyed posting the past 10 days!
