How sweet is this precious newborn baby girl? I loved spending time with her and her awesome mommy & daddy in their beautiful home! Welcome to the world, Willow! Thank you for being such a perfect little baby for your newborn portrait session!

This is the type of newborn session I want when she gets here next month. We have a bunch of trees behind our house and I would love some outdoor portraits too. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

You know that feeling when you just want to make something work, and you try everything possible to make it happen but the cards are just stacked against you and it’s time to swallow your pride and move on? Yeah… that’s where we are at right now. So, our blog was hacked back in January-ish, and after lots of technical gurus trying their hand at recovering everything I’ve written and posted the last couple years, we could only get back the blog posts prior to November 2013. Since I outsourced the backup of my blog to another company (which I will be taking care of myself from now on, thank you very much!), I had no idea the backups were corrupt until I contacted them to restore the blog after we got it back online. With that, I am moving forward with posting new blog posts mixed in with some older goodies throughout the next few months while I have two amazing new interns to take on that task:)The blog will get a facelift as well, and I’m excited to move forward with a ton of images for your viewing pleasure! Stay tuned!

A family portrait session on a freezing cold day can be tough, but this family that I’ve been photographing for years made it easy peasy:)Their dog Micah joined us for a few shots before we put him back in the warm car… I LOVE that dog, and he’s such a GREAT model for pet portraits!!

Micha, like most dogs, loves getting scratched…

I love photographing newborns, and I know I need to show off more of these sweet babes that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over the years. So, here’s a cutie pie newborn from last year that deserves some blog attention. Daddy is a professional firefighter for Fairfax County, VA, so it was obvious that we needed to include some shots with her hero in uniform:)

I’m dreaming of hot sunny weather so I can shoot more senior portrait sessions like this one from earlier this year of Megan from Sherando High School!

IMPORTANT!!! LISTEN UP!!! Since this session early this year, I have learned that shooting on railroad tracks is illegal. As in “not allowed”, “prohibited”, “unauthorized”… like totally OUTLAWED, lol! Even though there were CSX guys that showed up during this shoot and didn’t say anything to us (you can see their truck in the background of the shot below), I have since been SEVERELY warned (as in yelled at and threatened to have my gear confiscated and a hefty fine given to not only me but my clients who were there) by another CSX officer at a different senior portrait session. Apparently, from what the CSX officer told me, a newbie photographer put a newborn baby on the tracks in Harper’s Ferry right before a train was coming and so they are kicking up their enforcement of the trespassing law. I have since heard horror stories of photographers who have had to pay thousands of dollars in fines for one ticket, had gear taken away, had images deleted on cards, etc.). SOOOOOO… guess what? I’m not stepping foot on railroad property ever again! I swear almost every senior session since this one has requested a shot on the tracks, lol! Sorry ladies, I don’t think you want your driver’s licenses taken away until you turn 18, and my insurance agent would probably not help me out in replacing my gear if it was confiscated due to a criminal action on my part, so don’t even ask! ¬†Alrighty, end of PSA, now back to the senior portraits:)
