Mark & Jenny ~ The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley & The George Washington Hotel

Winchester, Virginia Wedding Photographers

We are at the height of wedding & portrait season, but I just  had to post some images from a recent wedding at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and the George Washington Hotel. I was absolutely thrilled when Jenny & Mark decided to hire us to shoot their museum wedding! They are gorgeous, sweet, stylish, oh-so-fun and I knew that their wedding would be magnificent :)  I wasn’t counting on a torrential downpour, however… Alas, Mother Nature just wanted to show off how absolutely stunning Jenny could be even in a crazy rainstorm :)  I can’t wait to have our Day After session at the Museum soon so we can get all those lovely romantic images that this couple deserves!

Quite possibly my favorite ring shot, considering the story of the day :)

See? Only Jenny Brockwell could still look glowingly stunning in a rainstorm such as this…

I need to explain this shot… this was a specific request from the bride and groom that many of our couples are wanting today. It’s so awesome to see the faces of your friends and family as you have your first kiss! Typically, we steer clear of this area but upon request we will most certainly do it as long as the officiant gives the thumbs up.

This is ALWAYS my most favorite part of every wedding day. You can totally feel the joy in everyone’s faces.

Happy Anniversary, Jon!

I have to take a quick break from the workday to say Happy FIVE YEAR Anniversary to my best friend :)

(thanks to Shelby Leigh Photography for the priceless engagement & wedding photos)

Romantic moment coming back up the aisle after the ceremony :)

Last dance…

We picked the longest full moon of the year, and it rose exactly over the mountain in front of the reception for everyone to see while on the dance floor. It was amazing!!!

Being a great Daddy to our beautiful little girl, Juniper, comes naturally…

And one of the first of many sweet moments with our newest bundle of joy, Bastian :)

Thank you, Jon, for everything you do.  “Olive Juice” :)

Unique Senior Portraits ~ Kerstyn’s Pool Session

Winchester, VA Senior Portrait Photographers

I love when I have a chance to do something out of the norm, so when I was thinking of doing a pool shoot with one of our senior models from the Winchester area, my mind went crazy with ideas on what I wanted to do. This was an impromptu photo shoot in her friend’s backyard pool in Front Royal, so we didn’t have a makeup artist to hide Kerstyn’s sunburn, but she still looks like her usual stunning self :)

If you would like to schedule a fun pool shoot in the Winchester/ Martinsburg / Hagerstown / Frederick area, shoot us an email!

Zach & Erin ~ Khimaira Farm

Luray, VA Wedding Photographers

By now everyone should know how we feel about Khimaira Farm, since I’m always going on and on about the utter perfection of this wedding venue and the beautiful family that owns it… So you should know how happy we were to make the trip back to Luray, Virginia a couple weeks ago to photograph Zach & Erin’s wedding. Even with the scorching hot sun beating down on us, this wedding was one to remember with the gorgeous backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains during the ceremony for all their guests to enjoy and the fun reception in the barn where almost everyone ended up on the dance floor getting down with Zach & Erin :)

I loved this moment when Erin’s mom first saw her in her wedding dress…

Her grandma’s earrings…

They have an adorable 18 month old son, Bradley, who picked a flower on his way down the aisle… so cute!

Here comes the bride! I loved Bradley seeing his mommy in her wedding dress for the first time that day – he was SO HAPPY!!!

I love how Zach’s grandparents are holding hands so tight as they watch their grandson exchange rings with his bride!

Oh the advantages of having multiple cameras on multiple photographers ;)

This set is one of my faves from the ceremony when they were announced husband and wife… Bradley had been wanting Mommy & Daddy to pick him up throughout the entire ceremony but the grandparents had to keep him away as best they could. So, when they were finally ready to walk him back up the aisle, his little face was just beaming! To see them walk away as a family was so touching…. and I’m glad Jon was up front to grab those last few shots of this sequence while I was shooting from the back :-)

This was a special request from Erin. She wanted a shot of the Baltimore Raven’s garter she got for Zach and wanted something unique for editing. She talked about the selective coloring fad from a while back (where everything is in black and white except for one element), but as a photographer I cringe when I see that used, so I told her I would do something dramatic with the colors that would be more modern. Jon & I love it, and hope they will too!

Bradley had to get in on the first dance action too!

So, this was a pretty cool Best Man speech… Zach’s dad started with the typical sentiments, then busted out in a crazy party dance with the help from Khimaira’s house D.J., Josh Nicol.

Father Daughter Dance – so sweet :)

We LOVE Khimaira! We’re going back to shoot another wedding there next weekend, so look out for more soon!
